Competitive Necromancer Ideas
My first character in Guild Wars was my beloved necromancer, but once I got to the Ring of Fire isles I really had a hankering to try out warriors. So, I started a warrior and ended up really enjoying it. But now I'm looking back at my necromancer and all the time I've spent practicing my warrior I haven't been using to think up decent and competitive necromancer builds. Therefore, I'd like the community's help.
What are some really strong necromancer builds that are successful in PvP (GvG, HoH)? No PvE builds please, quite frankly playing PvE with a necromancer is like having the cheat codes on. ^_^ I know for a lot of builds along the necromancer line you'll find that taking a different primary (Mesmer, Elementalist) provides more than taking a primary necromancer line. Please post about strong necromancer builds you have either played with or played yourself. Thanks.

I'm no necromancer expert, but a build that i have played is a support damage necro/monk.
Points are in 12 smiting and 12 blood magic with the remainder 3 in soul reaping.
Skills include:
Order of Pain
Order of the Vampire {Elite}
Strength of Honor
Judges Insight
Bathazar's Aura
Dark Fury
Blood Ritual
Resurect / Vengance
Great build for helping out your warrior ^^.
Order of Pain, Vampire, and Stregnth of Honor can all be stacked to greatly boost your warrior's power.
Judges insight will make thier attacks do holy damage, rendering them unblockable.
Bathazars Aura will injure all enemies around your "sheep".
Use Dark Fury on them to let them injest adrenaline like there's no tomorrow.
Blood Ritual is mostly for you, but it could be used in the case of a nearby monk.
Res/Veng is self-explanitory.

Yeah Zeru, I think you're exactly right. What I'm finding out as I'm experimenting is pretty much any "necro" build I can design, another class can do it better. Simply put, the necromancer primary doesn't seem to be too desirable. Hexes are pretty much out the window with the rate at which people lay down spirits, and as far as other things a necromancer does, well frankly, other classes can do it better. Heh, another reason why the nature's renewal problem needs to be fixed. It's kind of odd, I know that awhile back, pvp'ing with my necromancer was fun because curses really allowed the necromancers some depth, and you could just add onto it with blood or death ,whichever you prefer. I've never really agreed with other players that soul reaping isn't a worthwhile primary - I find that people die enough times (And most often at just the opportune moment for me) that I'm always getting a convenient energy boost. Not to mention being able to stack blood magic up so high with runes and skills was cool, but I guess I'm going to have to stick it out with my hexless/enchantless warrior till the balance issue is fixed. That's aight, I don't mind smashing people with my hammer for a little while longer. ^_^

Blood: 10+major
Curses: 9+supirior
Soul Reaping: 11+scar
rest in healing prayers to inprove your restore life
I usually take
Vaperic Gaze
Life siphon
Insidious Parasite
Spiteful Spirit
Shadow of Fear
Enfeebling Bloof

this build can res when needed and can usuall take on those pesky Worrior 1on1 if u have a healer monk consentratin on u u can take on about 3 worrors at a time due to the area affects of SoF and EB
